Sympatico DNS is Messed Up

If you’re not reading this from a Sympatico DSL account, go about your merry-way. GO!

Ok, now that those freaks are gone we can get down to business. Doesn’t Rogers suck ass? :-) “I THOUGHT YOU LEFT ROGERS BOY!”

Anyhow, if you’re getting a lot of “Page cannot be loaded” errors when you’re browsing around, don’t let Sympatico convince you its a problem with your setup. It’s totally their DNS server’s problem. I’ve heard some rumours that they’re fighting a DoS attack so maybe that’s the root cause, but regardless, DNS lookups are failing all the time.

To fix the problem, you might want to consider using a secondary DNS server. You can add it in your O/S settings or via your router. The following open DNS servers work well for me: 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3. Their ping might not be quite as low, but it’s a lot better than those damn error pages :-) Please post if you have any better ones. Just watch out that you don’t set your DNS server to a data-miner or something ;-)

It’s still a problem, just not the particular problem you’re referring to ;-)
