Google Video Hates Canadians

By Jonathan + February 13th, 2006

I can’t believe that the Olympics, and their national affiliates in each country, are still so an4l about sharing news cross-border with their stupid intellectual property rights. They’ve been doing it forever on TV, but chalk it up as one more example of them trying to enforce television standards on the Web when they force websites to the same archaic rules.

They may not like the way the Web works, just like the movie industry, music industry…pretty much every industry except the pr0n industry ;-) Hopefully one day they’ll realize: they don’t really have a choice. So go sell yourself out, increasing “evil” Google, and block us Canadians from watching your NBC Olympics videos. There’s probably some kid in his basement sharing those videos on P2P right now and you’re not getting a cut :D

FYI, I was only searching for videos of figure skating to see that wipe-out today. For the last time, I’m not into figure skating :-)

They did this with a number of the videos in the Superbowl commercials set also. So weak.

Most probably the reason is Google video servers are not available in other countries outside of the US. If the servers are not present in a country, the quality of the video will be lower, so that’s why Google video is not available in any toher country except the US.

That’s definitely not the reason. Google video is available in other countries. Its just that those bastards squeeze every last cent out of anything related to the olympics.

Oh, and google is turning evil.
