TrueCrypt Disk Encryption

By Jonathan + February 14th, 2006

I don’t know why anyone would need encryption at home *cough cough* but here’s a free one that looks pretty good :D And it has a Linux version too! Well, slap a bee suit on me and call me Mr. Rogers! Actually, let’s not…

TrueCrypt - Free Open-Source On-The-Fly Disk Encryption Software for Windows XP/2000 and Linux

  • Creates a virtual encrypted disk within a file and mounts it as a real disk.
  • Encrypts an entire hard disk partition or a device, such as USB flash drive.
  • Encryption is automatic, real-time (on-the-fly) and transparent.
  • Provides two levels of plausible deniability, in case an adversary forces you to reveal the password
