Wise Monkey

By Jonathan + July 14th, 2006

Behold the wise monkey! Why? Because it’s 5:37pm on Friday and it’s the WEEEEEKEND!

I’ve sorta-officially started work in my free-time on a Content Management System (to rule them all). I’m way too lazy to write a complicated middle-layer, so my aim is this: to create a CMS with as small a code-base as possible, that can run a mid-market website. Basically, I’m trying to write a [...]

MacBook Jedi Mind Tricks

By Jonathan + July 11th, 2006

As fun as smacking your MacBook to get it to do something, I think — if I had a MacBook — I’d prefer to wave my hands over it like a Jedi master. That’s just the way I roll, dawg

Now the people that are combining this trick with Parallels Desktop to switch from [...]

SharpDevelop

By Jonathan + July 10th, 2006

I’m working in ASP.NET (C#) more and more these days on the new sites I’m building, and I have to admit, it’s an awesome way to develop. I hated (HATED!) it at first because the Micro$oft Visual Studio is such a pain to work in. It’s okay if you want just to drag [...]

Lately I’ve been getting insane traffic from Google Images and my host, HostForWeb, has been getting pissed off. The problem isn’t the bandwidth per-se, but the processing power required to render every page of my blog (complete with several hits to a MySQL database).

I don’t have the cash for a dedicated hosting package, so [...]

Vimeo

By Jonathan + July 4th, 2006

I stumbled around this site when I was playing with thumbnailing videos in PHP. It’s no comparison to YouTube I suppose, but I thought the “What we’re all doing on Vimeo at this moment” constantly updating via Ajax was a nice touch. It really gives a sense of what people are doing at [...]

Fixing Connect360 on the New Xbox Experience

When I fired up the New Xbox Experience tonight, the first thing I checked was whether Connect360 worked. I think I would probably use my Xbox for a[...] Read the rest »
