The Vancouver Sun had a cool article about these new “equestrian residences” going up near Vancouver called High Point.
He says before he got to know the area he’d planned on a golf course community. But after talking to people he replaced fairways with stables.
I’ve been horseback riding in Toronto for two years now and, while I love the sport, it’s definitely tricky to keep it up in a major city. You either have to pay insane amounts for a stable in the city, or take on the added cost of a vehicle (and time) to commute out to the “boonies” (sorry, Milton ;-)). I couldn’t imagine having a stable right in my backyard when I got home after a 30-minute commute from downtown. “Damnit, Vancouver! Why must you keep trying to lure me in?!”
