I finally called Rogers Cable on Friday about my Rogers-branded Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 digital video recorder being all wonky (it routinely stops recording shows midway though and jumps to live TV when I’m watching a recording). They told me that they have started rolling out firmware updates to all their DVR boxes on their network in the Toronto-area this month. The updates will take place at 2am, and will cause a forced reboot of your box.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one having these problems, but it would have been nice to be notified proactively by Rogers that a fix was underway
