Since Google released MacFUSE, a virtual filesystem, we’ve all known something is up at Google and it probably has to do with storage. Today, Chris pointed out that Google has just released SpotlightFS that layers OS X Spotlight functionality on top of MacFUSE. From the Google Code wiki:
Using SpotlightFS is as easy as creating and opening a folder. For example, if I want a folder that contains all documents about Google, I can simple create a folder at the top level of my SpotlightFS volume, and name it “Google”. The contents of that folder will be symbolic links to all the files on my computer which match a Spotlight query of “Google”.
With FUSE now cross-platform, a cool way to index it, and the storage resources of Google, how can the logical next step not be the mythical Google Drive?
I, for one, welcome our new Skynet Google overlords
