Keebler/Blogging 2007 Wrap-Up

Well, it’s been a crazy year of up-and-downs here a Keebler/Blog. It started with finally getting my domain name back, and led to higher traffic levels than ever before. There were over 174,000 unique visitors this year and 225,000 pageviews.

Here’s a break-down of what happened around here in 2007:

Here’s what got the page views this year, proving once again, that you’re all a bunch of perverts ;)

Month-by-month

January started off with me finding a security hole in the ePass system that protects the Canadian Passport and Revenue offices. Of course, no one listened to me and the hole popped up again in December. Amazon S3 got me excited and I started talking about building a new web paradigm. WhyYouShould launched a new look while I drooled over photos of Tricia Helfer.

I got the hell out of freezing Canada in February with a trip to the O.C. while imified launched their IM-based application platform. Dax Flame started his rise to internet stardom while I fawned over the cast of The L Word.

In March I took it upon myself to build my first Facebook application: Flickr2Facebook which has become one of the most popular tools I’ve created. I tried to teach everyone how to download stuff on usenet and fell in love all over again with Zipcar. I watched the rise of Twitter and hacked my Xbox with Xbox Media Center.

I continued my love-in with Xbox Media Center in April, but missed my HD, especially when I couldn’t get ‘Heros’ in HD. Wookie Wookie In My Kitchen kept me going though ;) Dear Sister had me rolling around on the floor while I waited for my Busted Tees orders to arrive from Sweden. My horse watched her friends frolicking in the field and my friends created a list of over 100 Shatnerisms.

May started off with some civil disobedience while listening to “Thou Shalt Always Kill”. I Has a Bucket appeared everywhere all-of-a-sudden and I wondered around the city in search of a meadow. I got in a fight with a record-industry guy about DRM at mesh07 and WhyYouShould launched it’s Facebook application. I even got flamed by The Torontoist.

In June, I tried to help everyone start building their own Facebook applications. My company’s takeover went through and I started working for CTV while I worked on the Muchmusic Video Awards. I took another trip to Vancouver and saw some killer whales.

July saw all the CHUM signs ripped off our building and I got Telus fish swimming on everyone’s Facebook. I saw a crazy/beautiful sunset from my balcony and broke the news about Goatse on CNN (which later turned out to be a hoax - sorry!).

Porter Airlines was still winning my heart in August while I rocked out to ‘The Salmon Dance’. My friends and I all laughed at “Dear Loser…” and I went back to Vancouver…again.

While the kiddies were going back to school in September, I found some dude’s underwear in my house and freaked out. Then I focussed my efforts on getting a copy of Halo 3, but ended up standing in the midnight lines. Nuit Blanche was pretty fun and Rachel Bilson helped me get my site traffic up.

October found me watching a dolphin teasing a seagull, and calling the Ontario election before any other media outlet (and noting how much it cost). My g/f and I babysat a dog and I discovered the secret of the Swiss Chalet sauce. My Xbox 360 started to take over my dreams, which made up for Leopard not rocking my world, and I let my horse have a vacation. I also put on my tin hat when the cameras went up in Toronto.

In November, I started sizing up the competitor’s video players as Toronto got it’s first taste of winter. It got cold outside and I started posting more photos of hot celebrities to keep me warm.

With the Media at the top of my mind, in December I started thinking about convergence and TV going onto your Apple TV in Canada. I added my signature to defeat the Canadian DMCA bill and watched my pumpkin rot on my balcony. As the month drew to a close, I partied it up and settled into the holidays.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who came along for the ride this year, and hope you’re looking forward to an even Keebler/bloggier 2008 :D
