‘Fringe’ – Series Premiere (Liveblog)

  • 9:41 PM Wow, I love how they give this crazy guy his genetic lab back. That seems smart
  • 9:43 PM The 3D titles floating everywhere are cool.
  • 9:43 PM Wanting a cow is probably the latest sign Dr. Bishop is crazy
  • 9:44 PM Mad sexual chemistry between Pacey and the blonde chick
  • 9:44 PM I love the high tension music over a montage of getting a cow
  • 9:45 PM Nice, she bluffed him into coming back from Iraq
  • 9:46 PM Pacey is in debt to the mob via some shady casino dealings
  • 9:47 PM Her lover, John, is not infected, just exposed to chemicals. He has only 24 hours to live.
  • 9:48 PM “Synaptic transfer system” is the only solution. Of course! “the sharing of information across a subconcious state”
  • 9:48 PM He can do this against a corpse if they haven’t been dead for more than 6 hours
  • 9:49 PM LOL He’s going to give her LSD to help speak to her unconcious friend. That seems smart.
  • 9:50 PM “Let’s make some LSD” = classic line
  • 9:50 PM The transparent skin is kinda cool. Gotta get me some of that.
  • 9:51 PM “You should probably strip to your underwear” = another classic line. This mad scientist guy is awesome
  • 9:51 PM The cow’s named Gene
  • 9:52 PM John continues to become more transparent
  • 9:52 PM Niiiiiiiiicce Olivia’s stripping “for the experiment”
  • 9:53 PM “And this will rip open your consciousness” = LSD.
  • 9:54 PM Dr. Bishop is thanking Olivia for trusting him….before locking her, stoned, in a sensory depravation chamber
  • 9:56 PM More shots of John becoming more transparent. We get it! It sucks!
  • 9:56 PM The cow continues to chew its cud
  • 9:57 PM All his computers are Dells. That doesn’t bode well for this experiment
  • 9:57 PM blah blah blah Bad science blah blah blah. Peter makes asshole comments
  • 9:57 PM “Waiting” montage
  • 9:58 PM Olivia is tweaking!
  • 9:58 PM She’s naked in her hallucinations. Oh, nm. Just a backless dress
  • 9:59 PM She’s tripping now!
  • 9:59 PM The CG department just discovered lensflares
  • 10:00 PM Olivia and John are making out in their shared acid trip. Maybe you guys should think about getting down to business.
  • 10:01 PM John sounds like he has brain damage already….or just a bad actor
  • 10:01 PM John’s able to think back to the explosion. He sees the face of the bad-dude
  • 10:02 PM Olivia starts seezing in her box so they whip her out
  • 10:02 PM
  • 10:04 PM Olivia sketches the bad-dude in some fancy software
  • 10:05 PM OMFG He was a passenger on Flight 267. His emergency contact was his twin brother, Richard Steed. His last employer was Massive Dynamic (the big evil tech company)
  • 10:07 PM Dr. Bell, the head of Massive Dynamic, was also a colleague of Dr. Bishop
  • 10:07 PM HC! The receptionist at the company has a f**king robotic arm!
  • 10:07 PM “The Pattern” – some government project with Massive Dynamic that has to do with crazy fringe science
  • 10:08 PM Dr. Bishop is back home watching Spongebob with the cow
  • 10:09 PM Olivia has her suspect (the twin brother who used to work at Massive Dynamic). He was fired for stealing secrets. They raid his house.
  • 10:10 PM Of course, he has a secret genetic lab in the basement full of crazy, diseased monkeys (my favourite kind)
  • 10:11 PM Peter catches the suspect running away from the house and goes after him
  • 10:11 PM Mandatory chase scene dodging cars and jumping between roof-tops. Thanks, Fox :)
  • 10:12 PM Peter and Olivia catch the guy and stick a gun in his face
  • 10:13 PM Bad-dude: “I have nothing to say”. Olivia doesn’t seem pleased. Might be constipated
  • 10:14 PM Peter sees the guy on video. I think he recognizes him or something. Maybe not.
  • 10:15 PM Peter goes in to the suspect’s room and threatens to infect him with the same stuff. Smashes his hand with a coffee-cup = seems to get results.
  • 10:15 PM All-of-a-sudden, Peter seems to know a lot about genetic engineering. Working with his crazy dad, Dr. Bishop, to save John.
  • 10:16 PM Homeland-security guy is giving Olivia props. Tells her about 3 dozen incidents like the Hamburg-flight in the past few weeks. Blows her mind with some crazy “fringe” events that have been going on. He’s trying to recruit her.
  • 10:18 PM “It’s like someone’s experimenting, using the whole world as a lab”
  • 10:19 PM
  • 10:20 PM That’s the Homeland Security guy. Haven’t caught his name yet but I swear this actor has been in every J.J. Abrams show, ever
  • 10:20 PM John is still transparent but WAIT…he’s becoming flesh-toned again. He’s awake!
  • 10:21 PM Olivia: “Can you hear me baby?”
John: “I had a dream about you”
    Damn, that’s good writing!
  • 10:21 PM Looks like Johnny-boy is going to be oooooooooookay
  • 10:22 PM Bad-dude says he’s been threatened by a guy from Olivia’s office. He recorded the conversation but conveniently burried it
  • 10:23 PM Olivia digs up the tape with her hands….in winter. She’s hardcore
  • 10:23 PM The voice on the recording is John!
  • 10:24 PM John is up and about now. SHITTY! He killed the bad-dude with a pillow
  • 10:25 PM
  • 10:26 PM Olivia is on the scene. Sees John escaping in a blue SUV. It’s car-chase time. You don’t want to breakup with your g/f by smothering a guy with a pillow = bad call
  • 10:27 PM I’m not digging the winterscapes in this show. WTF Are they driving under The Gardiner?
  • 10:28 PM John’s trying to run Olivia off the road. I think it’s over. DAMN! She flipped his car. Definitely over
  • 10:29 PM John (dying): “Ask yourself…why……why Boil’s sent you….to Stark’s facility…and why you……”
Olivia: “Who are you working for? John? Tell me. Tell me more”
    John: gurgle, gurgle
  • 10:30 PM John chokes on his own blood. I think he’s dead this time. They really went through a lot of trouble to save that guy, just to have him be a dick
  • 10:31 PM OMG! “The lab” is the University College building at UofT! This must be all filmed in Toronto
  • 10:31 PM
  • 10:32 PM Olivia is trying to get Peter (and his dad) to help the agency to help her
  • 10:32 PM Peter: “(from what my dad told me about his experiments) what happened on that plane is just the beginning”
  • 10:33 PM Cut to scene of (dead) John on a gerney. He’s in the Massive Dynamic building. The receptionist with the robotic arm is there: “Question him”
  • 10:34 PM wtf, are they going to bring him back from the dead….again?
  • 10:35 PM The end
  • 10:37 PM ‘Fringe’ seems really like the X-Files. Big conspiracy, crazy science. The pilot was a little rough and I’m not sure the characters were that grabbing. I’ll probably give it one more shot, but ‘Fringe’ isn’t my favourite show in the world….yet
